Using his uncle’s old paraglider, Tobi first familiarized himself with paragliding on his own, before completing serious training at the flying school with Andi and Michel – his current colleagues. He was finally able to avoid the long descents after extensive mountain tours with cross-country training partners. From this point on, the paraglider became Tobi’s life companion. He spent every free minute paragliding with friends and gained a wealth of experience not only in the Allgäu mountains, but also in Nepal, New Zealand and many European countries, from which his guests benefit when tandem flying. His personal highlights include a bicycle trip with a paraglider from Oberstdorf to Sicily and flying over all 3 active volcanoes in Italy, as well as a paragliding flight from Mont Blanc and tandem flights with his son.
In 2012, together with Michael Gebert, he founded the tandem company “vogelfrei – Gleitschirm Tandemflüge”, one year later Manuel Nübel became co-owner and in 2016 vogelfrei merged with the renowned Oberstdorf tandem company “flyzone – Tandemfliegen mit Profis”, which had already been active for 20 years at that time.
Together with Manu and Schelli, Tobi has set himself the goal of organizing and offering paragliding tandem flights at the highest level.
